The swiss artist Adam Tellmeister has been living in exile in Berlin for over twenty years, because he refused to join the army in the late 1980s. As from 2009 he is allowed travel back into his Switzerland.
After twenty years his home country as well as its inhabitants have become estranged to Adam. To prepare Adam for his repatriosization 100 artists sent a parcel from Switzerland to Berlin.
The Parcels from Home enable a small glance into the contemporary artistic work of Switzerland. Many artists have, however, approached their home country from a thematic angle. The project generated critical, but also humoristic commentaries on contemporary Switzerland and what this country means for the respective artists.
